Red Bull Rule Hadjar Out of Italian Grand Prix

Red Bull has ruled Isack Hadjar out of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix as the French driver continues his recovery from a wrist injury. BBC Sport reported the decision on Wednesday, confirming that Hadjar will miss a second consecutive Formula 1 race after also sitting out last month's Dutch Grand Prix.

The 21-year-old, who was promoted to Red Bull's senior team in 2026, has not yet been cleared to return at Monza. Red Bull said Hadjar was making encouraging progress, according to the BBC, but the team stressed that it would not take unnecessary risks with his return to competition. No timetable beyond the Italian race was given.

Liam Lawson will again step up from Racing Bulls to partner Max Verstappen in the senior Red Bull lineup. The New Zealand driver filled the same role at the Dutch Grand Prix and finished seventh. That result now leads into another weekend in the Red Bull car as the team reshuffles both of its entries.

Yuki Tsunoda, Red Bull's reserve driver, will once more replace Lawson at Racing Bulls. The arrangement preserves a two-car lineup for each team while Hadjar remains unavailable, repeating the solution used at the previous round rather than bringing in a different driver for Monza.

The BBC said Hadjar is understood to have broken his wrist while boxing during the summer. Red Bull's public position, as reported by the broadcaster, focused on his recovery and the decision to avoid rushing him back. The exact circumstances of the injury were therefore not presented as a confirmed team account, and the length of his absence remains uncertain.

Hadjar's withdrawal comes with Red Bull fourth in the constructors' championship, behind Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren. Lawson's move alongside Verstappen gives the team continuity from the Dutch round, while Tsunoda's return to Racing Bulls does the same for the sister operation. The immediate consequence is clear: Hadjar's comeback will wait until after the Italian Grand Prix, subject to his continued recovery and a future decision on when he is ready to compete.
