Record London Marathon ahead: Which celebrities are set to feature?
The London Marathon is poised to set new records on April 21, 2026, with a remarkable lineup of celebrity participants set to join the anticipated record-breaking field of runners.
Organizers confirmed that over 50,000 runners will take to the streets of London for this year's event, surpassing last year's record of 49,863 finishers. The course will once again traverse iconic landmarks including Tower Bridge, the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, and Canary Wharf before finishing at The Mall.
Among the celebrity participants confirmed for this year's event are former Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, who announced his return to competitive marathon running after his retirement from track events. TV presenter Davina McCall will also be participating, continuing her remarkable transformation from fitness enthusiast to ultramarathon competitor.
The celebrity field also includes several Premier League footballers raising money for charity, with Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold both registered for the event. Pop star Olly Murs and comedian Michael McIntyre will also be among the high-profile runners attempting the 26.2-mile challenge.
Charity remains at the heart of the London Marathon, with organizers expecting to surpass the £70 million raised last year. The event has now generated over £1.3 billion for charitable causes since its inception in 1981, making it the world's largest single-day charity fundraiser.
Elite racing will feature defending champion Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia, who set a course record of 2:18:33 last year, facing challenges from world record holder Ruth Chepngetich, though the Kenyan star remains a doubt due to injury concerns.
