Real Madrid beat Racing Santander 3-0 to secure sixth straight win
Real Madrid extended their winning run to six matches in all competitions with a 3-0 victory at Racing Santander on Sunday. Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Yan Diomande scored before half-time at El Sardinero, giving José Mourinho's side three points without needing another goal after the interval, according to the club's match report.
Watch the highlights:
The result kept Madrid third in La Liga, three points behind leaders Barcelona, The Guardian reported. Barcelona had beaten Alavés 6-1 on Saturday, while Atlético Madrid's 2-0 victory over Levante left them one point ahead of their city rivals. Madrid's latest away win therefore maintained their pursuit of both teams above them in the standings.
Mbappé opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Matteo Prati fouled him inside the area. La Liga's official match record lists the goal in the 11th minute, with the French forward placing his right-footed effort into the bottom-left corner. Racing then threatened a response through Iker Luque, whose shot was saved by Thibaut Courtois before the hosts could draw level.
Bellingham doubled the advantage after Arda Güler sent a pass behind Racing's defence. The England midfielder went past goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala and finished, the Madrid report said. Diomande then added the third with a right-footed volley following a corner, striking from outside the penalty area into the top corner. Those goals gave the visitors their three-goal cushion by the break.
Madrid continued to create chances after half-time. La Liga's commentary records Mbappé hitting the right post on the hour, followed by another effort that missed the target. Agirrezabala also denied Bellingham from close range after a Güler delivery. Racing made changes during the second half, but could not reduce the deficit as Madrid kept their clean sheet intact.
Racing's hopes of a penalty were ended by a video review, with the official match record confirming a no-penalty decision. Madrid's own report said an initial handball award against Aurélien Tchouaméni was overturned. Bellingham later had a stoppage-time finish disallowed for offside, leaving the score unchanged and Madrid with a winning start to November.
