Raphinha and Lamine Yamal Braces Lift Barcelona Past Rayo

Barcelona overturned an early deficit to beat Rayo Vallecano 5-2 at Spotify Camp Nou on Monday, extending their perfect start to the 2026-27 La Liga season. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal each scored twice, while a Florian Lejeune own goal supplied Barcelona's other goal in an eventful matchday-three contest.

Rayo struck first through Sergio Camello in the 12th minute. According to the clubs' official match reports, Álvaro García broke down the left and cut the ball back for Camello to finish past Joan García. It was the first league goal Barcelona had conceded this season after opening with victories over Elche and Athletic Club.

The lead lasted only seven minutes. Raphinha equalised in the 19th minute from Xavi Espart's pass, and Lamine Yamal completed the turnaround two minutes later with a left-footed finish into the top corner after being found by Marc Bernal. Barcelona briefly appeared to have a third before halftime, but Jules Koundé's goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

Barcelona did move 3-1 ahead in the 51st minute when Lejeune turned the ball into his own net. Rayo responded eight minutes later as Camello headed in Unai López's corner for his second goal, cutting the margin to one and bringing the visitors back into contention. Camello then had another chance inside the area, but Pau Cubarsí intervened to deny him, Rayo's report said.

Raphinha restored Barcelona's two-goal cushion in the 71st minute, finishing a counterattack after an assist from Anthony Gordon. Lamine Yamal completed the scoring in the 90th minute, converting from outside the penalty area after substitute Karim Adeyemi supplied the pass. La Liga's official match record confirmed the five scorers and the final 5-2 result.

The result left Barcelona with nine points from their first three league games under Hansi Flick. The club's official results list shows a 5-0 win at Elche and a 2-0 home victory over Athletic Club before Monday's game, giving Barcelona 12 goals scored and two conceded across that opening run. Rayo's lineup also featured competitive debuts for Gessime Bouaré and Adrià Pedrosa, with Pedrosa replacing the injured Jozhua Vertrouwd during the first half.
