Rangers Sign South Korean Winger Kim Min-su From Girona

Rangers have signed South Korean winger Kim Min-su from Girona for an undisclosed fee, adding another attacking option to Derek McInnes’s squad. BBC Sport reported that the 20-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at Ibrox, with Rangers holding an option to extend the deal by a further season.

Kim becomes Rangers’ 12th signing of the summer and will wear the number 10 shirt. His arrival follows the club’s efforts to strengthen in wide areas, with Djeidi Gassama, Findlay Curtis, Ross McCausland and Daisuke Yokota also among the wing options brought into the squad during the window.

The new signing spent last season on loan with Spanish second-tier club Andorra. He scored six goals and supplied four assists in 40 appearances during that spell, according to BBC Sport. Before leaving Girona, Kim had also recorded 19 goals across 84 appearances for the club’s reserve side and made eight senior appearances.

Kim departs Girona following the Spanish club’s relegation from La Liga. He told Rangers’ club media that their interest had surprised him, while describing himself as a direct attacking player focused on creating chances and scoring. He also said he had joined with the aim of competing for titles and helping the team improve.

McInnes said Rangers had made strengthening the forward positions a priority during the transfer window. The manager highlighted Kim’s technical ability, energy and desire to develop, and said the winger would bring a different attacking dimension to the squad.

Rangers had explored other wide reinforcements before completing Kim’s transfer. BBC Sport reported that the club had been set to buy Couhaib Driouech from PSV Eindhoven earlier in August, but the 24-year-old was carrying a minor injury. Brighton also rejected a £7.5 million Rangers bid for 21-year-old Amario Cozier-Duberry. Kim’s completed move now gives McInnes another young option as Rangers continue to shape their squad.
