Rangers Sign Minsu Kim From Girona on Four-Year Deal

Rangers have signed South Korean winger Minsu Kim from Girona for an undisclosed fee, adding another attacking option to Derek McInnes' squad. BBC Sport reported that the 20-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at Ibrox, with Rangers holding an option to extend the deal for a further season.

Kim becomes Rangers' 12th signing of the summer as the club continues to reshape its squad. His arrival follows the additions of other wide players, including Djeidi Gassama, Findlay Curtis, Ross McCausland and Daisuke Yokota. BBC Sport said strengthening the forward areas had been a priority for Rangers during the transfer window.

The winger arrives after spending last season on loan with Andorra in Spain's second tier. He scored six goals in 40 appearances and supplied four assists during that spell. Before the loan, Kim developed through Girona's setup, scoring 19 times in 84 games for Girona B and making eight senior appearances for the Catalan club.

Girona's relegation from La Liga preceded Kim's move to Scotland. The player told Rangers' club media that the approach had surprised him, but he expressed confidence about taking on the move. He described himself as a direct attacking player who creates chances and scores goals, while setting out his ambition to compete for trophies with Rangers.

McInnes said Kim would bring another dimension to Rangers' attacking group. The manager highlighted the South Korean's technical ability and energy, as well as his desire to improve. His signing gives McInnes another option on the wing after Rangers pursued alternatives earlier in the window.

According to BBC Sport, Rangers had been close to buying Couhaib Driouech from PSV Eindhoven before a minor injury affected that move. Brighton also rejected a £7.5 million offer from Rangers for Amario Cozier-Duberry. Kim's completed transfer now provides the club with the additional wide reinforcement it had been seeking.
