Rangers Reject Second Besiktas Bid for Nico Raskin as Aasgaard Leaves

Rangers have rejected a second offer from Besiktas for Belgium midfielder Nico Raskin, according to reporting by BBC Sport. The decision came as another Rangers midfielder, Thelo Aasgaard, completed a season-long loan move to Anderlecht, leaving the Scottish Premiership club to manage two significant personnel decisions late in the transfer window.

BBC Sport reported that Besiktas first proposed taking Raskin on loan. Rangers turned down that approach, and a later cash bid for a permanent transfer also failed to meet the Glasgow club's valuation. No value was disclosed for either offer, and the report did not indicate that Rangers had agreed to further negotiations.

Aasgaard, meanwhile, will spend the remainder of the season with Anderlecht after making five appearances and scoring once for Rangers this campaign. The loan is worth £1 million, according to the BBC report, and the Belgian club holds an option to sign the Norway international for £5 million next summer. The 24-year-old joined Rangers from Luton in 2025 and is under contract until 2029.

Raskin has continued to be linked with a move away from Ibrox following his performances at the World Cup. The 25-year-old returned to the Rangers midfield in Wednesday's win at Falkirk after missing the club's previous two matches while transfer speculation continued. He also wore the captain's armband during the closing stages of that victory.

Manager Derek McInnes said Raskin had conducted himself well during the period when he was out of the team. McInnes was pleased to be able to select the midfielder again, felt his display improved in the second half at Falkirk and indicated that Rangers appeared likely to retain him. He also pointed to Raskin's experience as something the side could use.

The transfer window was scheduled to close at 17:00 BST on Thursday. McInnes said its conclusion would allow the club to focus on the players who remained in the squad and help the group settle. Unless Rangers' position changes before that deadline, Raskin is set to stay while Aasgaard continues his season in Belgium.
