Raiders reach 3-0 as five NFL teams stay unbeaten in Week 3

The Las Vegas Raiders matched their win total from the whole of last season with a 35-27 comeback victory at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, joining four other teams with a perfect 3-0 start. According to BBC Sport's Week 3 report, the Raiders had finished last season with the NFL's worst record.

Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes for the third consecutive game as Las Vegas recovered from a 27-16 deficit. The victory brought the Raiders to three wins in three outings, a marked change from a previous campaign in which they won only three games in total. New Orleans could not protect its 11-point advantage.

Buffalo also had to overturn a deficit to preserve its unbeaten record. The Bills trailed the Los Angeles Chargers 10-0 before winning 24-16, with quarterback Josh Allen running for two touchdowns. Kansas City joined them at 3-0 by defeating the Miami Dolphins 24-10 on the road, with Travis Kelce among the Chiefs' touchdown scorers.

San Francisco completed another successful afternoon for the unbeaten teams, overcoming the Arizona Cardinals 36-30 at home. Brock Purdy threw four touchdown passes for the 49ers. Their six-point margin was one of numerous close results across the day's schedule, although Buffalo and Kansas City also emerged with victories to maintain their own perfect starts.

Minnesota became the fifth team to reach 3-0 with a 23-16 victory at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Vikings secured the result despite losing receiver Justin Jefferson to an ankle injury early in the game. BBC Sport reported the injury but did not give a timetable for his return, leaving that question separate from Minnesota's winning start.

Philadelphia still had the opportunity to expand the unbeaten group to six teams, with the Eagles due to visit the Chicago Bears on Monday to conclude Week 3. Sunday's games had already produced a notably tight set of results: 12 of the 14 contests were decided by eight points or fewer, matching the NFL record for one-score games in a single day.
