Price survives three match darts to reach World Grand Prix semi-finals
Gerwyn Price recovered from two sets down to beat Jonny Clayton 3-2 in Leicester. Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries and James Wade also advanced to the World Grand Prix semi-finals.

Gerwyn Price overturned a two-set deficit and survived three match darts to defeat Jonny Clayton 3-2 in the World Grand Prix quarter-finals in Leicester on Friday. The Welshman joined Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries and James Wade in the last four after the other three quarter-finals all ended in straight-set victories, according to BBC Sport and Online Darts reports.

Watch the highlights:

Clayton took the opening two sets but could not finish the match against his fellow Welshman. Price recovered to force a fifth set, only for Clayton to move 2-0 ahead in legs. Online Darts reported that Clayton missed one chance to win in the third leg and two more in the decider. Price completed the comeback with a checkout of 60, securing his first appearance in the tournament's semi-finals for three years.

Aspinall earned his place opposite Price by beating Ryan Joyce 3-0 at the Mattioli Arena. He won the opening set without conceding a leg, then took each of the next two in deciding legs. Online Darts recorded his match average at 105.15. Joyce produced a 153 checkout during the second set, but Aspinall ultimately closed out the contest with a finish of 75 after his opponent missed two darts to prolong it.

Humphries also won 3-0, defeating Niels Zonneveld to extend his run without losing a set. The world number two had already beaten Dave Chisnall and Jermaine Wattimena without dropping one. BBC Sport reported an average of 85.91 and four maximums against Zonneveld. Humphries said his practice form had not yet fully translated into his performances during the tournament and acknowledged that Wade would present a difficult challenge.

Wade eliminated third seed Gian van Veen 3-0 to complete the semi-final line-up. The two-time champion won the first eight legs and conceded only one across the match, according to Online Darts. Wade previously lifted the trophy in 2007 and 2010, while Humphries won it in 2023 and is pursuing a fourth consecutive appearance in the final.

The semi-finals take place on Saturday, with Aspinall facing Price and Wade meeting Humphries. Matches increase from best-of-five sets in the quarter-finals to best-of-nine in the last four. Sunday's final is best-of-11. The tournament uses a double-in, double-out format, requiring players to hit a double before they can begin scoring in each leg.
