Pastrnak scores four points as Bruins defeat Mammoth 6-1
David Pastrnak scored twice and added two assists as the Boston Bruins defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-1 at TD Garden on October 8. According to the NHL's official Gamecenter scoring report, Boston scored three times in each of the first two periods and had built a six-goal lead before Utah answered in the third.

The Bruins won despite being outshot 37-22, with their power play supplying three goals. Pastrnak scored Boston's first two goals with the man advantage, then assisted on Morgan Geekie's power-play finish. Geekie ended the game with a goal and two assists, while Matthew Poitras contributed a goal and an assist to Boston's six-goal total.
Casey Mittelstadt opened the scoring at 10:06 of the first period, assisted by James Hagens and Elias Lindholm. Pastrnak doubled the lead at 14:22, with Frederic Brunet and Geekie receiving the assists. Mason Lohrei then made it 3-0 at 15:51, completing a burst of three Boston goals in less than six minutes. Poitras and Mark Kastelic assisted on Lohrei's goal.
Boston extended its advantage early in the second period. Pastrnak's second goal came at 4:40, with assists from Geekie and Hampus Lindholm, before Geekie scored at 7:57 to make it 5-0. Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha assisted on that goal. Those two finishes gave the Bruins three power-play goals among their first five scores of the night.
Poitras completed Boston's scoring at 14:08 of the second period, with Pastrnak collecting his second assist and fourth point. The Bruins went into the final period ahead 6-0, having received goals from five different players. Pastrnak was the only player to score more than once, and his four points led all scorers in the game.
Jack McBain scored Utah's lone goal at 9:48 of the third period, assisted by Dmitri Simashev and Barrett Hayton. Neither team scored again. The NHL named Pastrnak the game's first star, followed by Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman and Geekie, giving the Bruins all three selections after a victory built on their first two periods.
