Pascal Gross wins September Premier League player of the month award
Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross has been named Premier League player of the month for September. The 35-year-old has three goals and three assists in five league appearances this season.

Pascal Gross has been named the Premier League's player of the month for September after a start to the season that has helped Brighton climb to third in the table. BBC Sport reported the award on Friday, with the 35-year-old becoming the sixth-oldest recipient of the monthly honour. His recognition comes during his second spell with the club.

Watch the highlights:

Gross has scored three goals and supplied three assists in five Premier League games this season. Chelsea's Joao Pedro is the only player to match that combined total, also with three goals and three assists, according to the BBC's report. The Brighton midfielder has created 15 chances, more than any other player in the division so far this campaign.

His involvement has extended beyond attacking contributions. Gross has played every minute of Brighton's eight matches across all competitions this season. He has also covered almost 60 kilometres in the Premier League, a distance exceeded only by Everton teenager Harrison Armstrong. Gross retired from international football after the World Cup and has since remained an ever-present for his club.

The award follows his return to Brighton on 2 January 2026 after 18 months at Borussia Dortmund. He made 66 appearances for the German club, scoring once and recording 17 assists. Brighton originally signed him from Ingolstadt in 2017, making him their first addition after promotion to the Premier League. He left for Dortmund in 2024 before coming back this year.

Across his two Brighton spells, Gross has now registered 34 goals and 51 assists in 252 Premier League appearances. Those figures give him 85 direct goal involvements in the competition. His career league totals therefore include substantial contributions both before his move to Germany and since his return to English football.

BBC Sport also reported that Gross has created 562 Premier League chances since first joining Brighton in 2017. Only Bruno Fernandes, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah have created more over that period. Gross leads the same period's tally for successful crosses, including corners, with 483, despite spending a season and a half outside the competition.
