Panthers Clinch 2026 NRL Minor Premiership With 38-10 Win Over Wests Tigers

The Penrith Panthers secured the 2026 NRL minor premiership by defeating Wests Tigers 38-10 at CommBank Stadium on Sunday. According to the official Panthers match report, Penrith needed to win by more than two points to take the title and removed any doubt with five first-half tries. The victory was their 18th of the season and sends them into the finals at the top of the ladder.

Brian To'o opened the scoring in the seventh minute after Liam Martin created space on the right edge. Casey McLean then struck from dummy half before Tom Jenkins crossed twice on the left wing. Jenkins also combined with Dylan Edwards for Penrith's fifth try, building a 26-0 halftime lead. Nathan Cleary converted three of those first-half scores.

Penrith's early control of possession and territory allowed its outside backs to attack a retreating defense. The Panthers kept finding space on both edges, while Jenkins emerged as a central playmaker as well as a finisher. Jeral Skelton finished a long cut-out pass from Jock Madden in the 45th minute, and Solomone Saukuru crossed four minutes later after Latu Fainu drew a defender and released him on the left edge. Madden converted the second try to reduce the deficit to 26-10. The rally did not last, however. McLean broke through for his second try in the 58th minute and completed his hat-trick six minutes later, with Cleary converting both scores.

McLean finished with three tries, 195 running metres, a try assist and three line-break assists, according to the Panthers' statistical review. To'o added 237 metres from 22 carries, while Martin contributed 147 metres, a try assist and two line-break assists. Isaiah Papali'i led Penrith's defensive work with 36 tackles, and co-captain Isaah Yeo made 29 on his return from injury. Mitch Kenny also returned as Penrith overcame Jack Cole's late first-half sin-bin.
