Oscar Bobb strikes late as Fulham beat Coventry 1-0
Oscar Bobb scored in the 80th minute as Fulham beat Coventry City 1-0 at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday. The Premier League victory followed their win against Hull the previous weekend. AS reported that Bobb supplied the decisive finish in a match with few clear opportunities for either side.
Watch the highlights:
The winger broke the deadlock by advancing down the right, evading Jay Dasilva and Jack Rudoni before shooting across Carl Rushworth. His goal settled a contest that had remained scoreless through the opening half and much of the second. Josh King was credited with the assist in Onlajny's match record.
Bobb had also been involved in Fulham's earlier attacking opportunities. Mundo Deportivo's live coverage recorded him supplying Shea Charles for a shot saved by Rushworth in the 14th minute. Four minutes later, King struck the right-hand post after another Bobb pass, and Alex Iwobi sent the follow-up over. Those chances left the visitors without the first-half lead they had threatened.
Coventry had their own openings but failed to turn them into a goal. Bobby Thomas headed wide from Rudoni's delivery after a free-kick, while Brandon Thomas-Asante missed with a header from Dasilva's cross. Both attempts came shortly after King's effort against the post. The teams reached the interval at 0-0, leaving the game unresolved despite those opportunities at either end.
Both managers used their benches before the breakthrough. Coventry replaced Thomas with Stephen Mfuni, then introduced Taiwo Awoniyi, Ephron Mason-Clark and Frank Onyeka. Fulham brought on Sander Berge before adding Rodrigo Muniz and César Palacios. Onlajny's timeline records further Fulham changes immediately after the goal, with Kenny Tete replacing Bobb and Tom Cairney taking over from King as the visitors protected their advantage.
Fulham moved out of the relegation zone, while Coventry were left second-bottom, according to the Press Association report carried by the Guardian. The home side made another late change, bringing on Gustavo Hamer for Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, but the score remained unchanged. Bobb's finish was enough to secure all three points for Álvaro Arbeloa's team.
