Ohio State Buckeyes Eye 19th Straight Big Ten Title in Dominant 2026 Season
The Buckeyes have dominated college tennis for nearly two decades, holding the top ranking this season while sitting just a game behind Michigan State as conference play winds down.

The Ohio State Buckeyes enter the final stretch of the 2026 college tennis season as the nation's top-ranked team, positioned to extend their remarkable streak of 18 consecutive Big Ten championships and chase what has eluded them in recent years: an outdoor national title.

Head coach Ty Tucker has built nothing short of a dynasty in Columbus, guiding the Buckeyes to an unprecedented run of conference dominance that now spans nearly two full decades. The program's success has been built on consistent excellence at both singles and doubles play, attracting top recruiting classes year after year.

The 2026 season has seen Ohio State pick up right where it left off. Early fall results showed the Buckeyes competing strongly at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, followed by a regional title in Chicago and a sectional championship in Ann Arbor. The ITA National Indoor Championships in Dallas proved particularly memorable, with Ohio State defeating several top-ranked opponents including SMU, Stanford, and Virginia en route to a standout performance.

Conference play has been equally impressive. Ohio State posted a flawless 4-0 record against Michigan, Penn State, and Notre Dame, displaying the kind of depth that makes the Buckeyes so difficult to beat. A hard-fought 4-3 loss to Michigan State in mid-March represents the team's most recent setback, though they bounced back immediately with dominant victories over Texas A&M, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, and Northwestern.

The most recent stretch has seen the Buckeyes continue their dominance, posting 7-0 and 4-0 victories over Northern Kentucky and Oregon respectively on April 10th. The team now sits just a game behind Michigan State in the conference standings with regular season play winding down.

Looking ahead, the Buckeyes face Washington on April 12th in Columbus before heading to Wisconsin and Nebraska to close out the regular season. The Big Ten Tournament will follow, where Ohio State will attempt to capture its 19th consecutive conference crown and position itself for another run at the outdoor national championship.

With their blend of experienced contributors and emerging talent, the Buckeyes remain the team to beat not only in the Big Ten but across the entire college tennis landscape.
