Norwich Hit Back to Hold Swans but Play-Off Hopes Ended
Norwich City came from behind to draw 1-1 with Swansea City, but the result mathematically ends their hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs this season.

Norwich City's slim hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs were mathematically ended despite a fighting comeback to draw 1-1 with Swansea City at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Watch the highlights:

Swansea took the lead in the 34th minute through Matt Grimes' penalty after a controversial handball decision. The Canaries struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half and looked destined for a damaging defeat.

However, substitute Josh Sargent inspired the comeback after the interval, winning and converting a penalty of his own in the 67th minute to level the scores. The American international caused constant problems for the Swansea defence after his introduction at half-time.

Despite pushing for a winner, Norwich couldn't find the crucial second goal that would have kept their faint play-off hopes alive. The draw leaves them 10 points adrift of the top six with just three games remaining.

Norwich manager David Wagner admitted the result was difficult to take. "The penalty call was very harsh but we showed character to come back. Unfortunately, the math doesn't lie and our play-off hopes are now over. We need to finish the season strongly and build for next year," Wagner said.

Swansea remain 15th in the Championship table following the point gained from the draw. The Swans have now taken seven points from their last four games, showing improved form as they approach the season's conclusion. Norwich, meanwhile, must regroup and focus on finishing as high as possible in mid-table.
