Northants Make History While Surrey Face Stubborn Resistance in County Cricket Finale
Northamptonshire achieved a historic first in county cricket as their top four all scored centuries, with Luke Procter's 261 the standout performance against Kent at Canterbury.

Northamptonshire etched their name into the record books Saturday as their entire top four batters reached three figures in an extraordinary team performance against Kent at Canterbury, marking the first time in the club's history that such a feat has been achieved.

Luke Procter led the charge with a magnificent career-best 261, dominating the Kent attack alongside Calvin Harrison, who contributed a solid 153. The pair piled on 684 runs for the loss of just two wickets, leaving Kent in disarray at 119 for six in their second innings. Nathan McSweeney also reached his hundred with a six, capping a remarkable display of batting prowess that saw Northants rack up the highest total of the season so far.

The second ball of the morning session set the tone when it sailed through for four wides, and Northants never looked back. The Kent bowlers were dismantled to all corners of the ground as the visitors built an imposing position that could prove decisive.

At the Oval, Leicestershire produced a defiant performance against Surrey's formidable total of 520. Rishi Patel scored a composed 133 not out, his first century in Division One, anchoring the innings with patience and precision. Jake Weatherald provided aggressive support with a rapid 96 at the other end, while Lewis Hill finished 60 not out after being dropped early in his innings.

Surrey's attack toiled away without reward as Leicestershire reached 350 for three, still 170 runs behind but with no signs of collapse. The result leaves Surrey waiting for the final innings to force a result, with Leicestershire showing unexpected resilience on a pitch that had seemed to favor the home side.

At Chelmsford, stand-in captain Craig Overton starred for Somerset with his highest-ever first-class score of 141, combining with Will Smeed, who made 39, to add 118 runs for the partnership. The两位 batsmen moved Essex towards parity against Somerset, who had posted 348 earlier in the match.

Meanwhile at Trent Bridge, Nottinghamshire built a commanding 450-run lead over Glamorgan, with Joe Clarke and Ben Slater guiding the hosts to safety and beyond after the early loss of Ben Duckett, who was run out for just one attempting a hasty single. The county champions were left vulnerable at 113 in their second innings before Clarke and Slater steadied the ship.

At Headingley, Ben McKinney fell just short of a double century, dismissed for 244 — the seventh highest individual score by a Durham player. David Bedingham also reached three figures before the declaration came at 605 for five, leaving Gloucestershire struggling at 168 for eight in their second innings, with Kemar Roach and Ben Raine each taking three wickets.
