Northampton Saints Extend Premiership Lead With Dramatic Late Victory Over Bath
Northampton Saints moved four points clear at the top of the Premiership table after a dramatic last-minute victory over Bath at Twickenham, with flanker Tom Pearson scoring the decisive try.

Northampton Saints extended their lead at the top of the Premiership table to four points with a dramatic 28-27 victory over Bath in Saturday's headline match at Twickenham. The game appeared to be heading Bath's way when they took a 27-21 lead with 10 minutes remaining, but Saints produced a stunning finish to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Bath had looked set for a statement victory after dominating large portions of the match. Their pack dominated the scrums and lineouts, creating a solid platform for fly-half Finn Russell to orchestrate their attacking play. The Scotland international pulled the strings brilliantly, setting up two tries with pinpoint cross-field kicks that exposed gaps in the Saints defense.

Saints hooker Luke Pearson touched down early in the first half to give his side the perfect start, but Bath responded with tries from Cameron Court and Tom Dunn to take control. The visitors' third try, scored by replacement back-rower Ted Hill, looked to have sealed victory before Saints mounted their remarkable comeback.

The decisive moment came in the 79th minute when flanker Tom Pearson crashed over from close range after a series of powerful carries from the forwards. Scrum-half Alex Mitchell added the conversion to send the Saints supporters into raptures and cap a thrilling contest that showcased the best of English rugby.

The victory means Saints now sit four points clear of second-placed Saracens with just three matches remaining in the regular season.
