Norris wins final Dutch Grand Prix after late pass on Antonelli
Lando Norris used a long final stint and fresher tyres to overhaul Kimi Antonelli and win the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Max Verstappen escaped injury after a heavy opening-lap crash halted his home race.

Lando Norris won the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort after passing Kimi Antonelli late in a disrupted 72-lap race, with George Russell taking third for Mercedes. The Guardian reported that the McLaren driver reclaimed the lead on lap 54 and stayed ahead to secure victory in the final scheduled Dutch Grand Prix before the event leaves the Formula One calendar.

Watch the highlights:

The race began on a damp track following rain around the start. Norris retained first place into the opening corner, while Antonelli moved past Russell for second. The contest was then stopped at the end of the first lap after Max Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull at the final corner and struck the barriers at high speed. The Guardian reported that Verstappen got out of the badly damaged car without injury.

After a delay of about 40 minutes for debris to be cleared, the race resumed from a standing start. Antonelli made the stronger getaway and passed Norris through the first corner, putting the Mercedes driver in control for much of the afternoon. Norris remained close enough to keep strategic pressure on the leader as the final pit-stop phase approached.

McLaren extended Norris's stint before bringing him in on lap 48, seven laps after Antonelli had stopped. The later visit gave Norris fresher tyres, and he quickly reduced the gap while Antonelli struggled for grip on hard tyres. With both drivers approaching Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari, Norris went around the outside of Antonelli at turn one on lap 54 and opened a lead that he held to the finish.

A late virtual safety car gave Antonelli another chance to attack after a switch to soft tyres. Russell yielded position to his faster teammate, but Antonelli could not recover the lead and finished second. Russell completed the podium, while Hamilton took fourth, Charles Leclerc fifth and Oscar Piastri sixth, according to The Guardian's race report.

The win was Norris's second at Zandvoort and the 13th victory of his Formula One career. It was also his second consecutive win of the season. The result kept the defending champion in the title contest, although The Guardian reported that championship leader Antonelli remained 83 points ahead of Norris after the race, with Russell and Hamilton 59 points behind the Mercedes leader.
