Nine-man Carlisle beat Harrogate 3-0 to end visitors' winning streak
Carlisle United overcame two first-half red cards to defeat Harrogate Town 3-0 at Brunton Park, ending the visitors' five-match winning streak in the National League. Goals from Josh Williams, Callum Whelan and Ryan Galvin secured the victory despite Carlisle playing the final hour with nine men, according to the Press Association match report published by BBC Sport.

The result also extended Carlisle's unbeaten run to five matches. Harrogate had entered the contest second in the table, 10 places and 11 points ahead of their opponents, BBC Sport reported in its follow-up coverage. Yet the visitors were unable to capitalise on either their recent form or a numerical advantage that lasted for most of the match.
Williams put the hosts ahead in the 10th minute, cutting inside and finding the far corner. Four minutes later, Miguel Azeez was dismissed for a challenge on Morgan Williams. Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Desbois then prevented Brad Dolaghan from equalising before the home side lost a second midfielder. Harvey Bunker received a straight red card on the half-hour after a foul on Josh Hmami.
Carlisle nevertheless increased their lead within a minute of the restart. Williams supplied Whelan for the second goal, giving Rob Elliot's side a larger cushion while still two players short. Substitute Galvin made it 3-0 in the 61st minute, scoring shortly after coming off the bench to complete the scoring in a game that had twice turned against Carlisle during the opening half-hour.
Harrogate manager and co-owner Simon Weaver criticised his team's response to the dismissals. Speaking to BBC Radio York, he said the players had allowed their winning run to affect their approach and had not shown the quality on the ball required to exploit the situation. He described himself as embarrassed, acknowledged that Carlisle deserved the victory and said his side had fallen below the standards they had established earlier in the season.
The defeat left Harrogate 10 points behind leaders Boreham Wood, with a trip to Forest Green next on their schedule. For Carlisle, the immediate outcome was both a clean sheet and an extension of their unbeaten sequence, achieved with two of their three goals coming after the second dismissal.
