Defending champions and emerging contenders across multiple conferences prepare for another competitive season of high school golf in the Garden State.

High school golf programs across New Jersey are gearing up for what promises to be another fiercely competitive season, with defending champions and emerging contenders setting ambitious goals across multiple conferences throughout the Garden State.

The Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference continues to showcase the state's premier high school golf talent, with several powerhouse programs returning experienced squads capable of championship runs. Multiple divisions within the NJAC provide opportunities for teams of varying skill levels to compete for conference honors.

Delbarton School enters the season as defending Morris County Tournament champions, having completed an undefeated 12-0 campaign while capturing the NJAC-American title. Head coach Sean Flanagan's 18th season features a veteran core led by senior standouts Grady Gore, Jake Budenbender, and James Ward, supported by promising underclassmen including sophomore additions Axel Brandes and Henry Blake.

The Green Wave's continued excellence exemplifies the program-building approach that has made them a consistent contender. Their combination of experienced leadership and emerging talent positions them as early favorites to repeat their county championship success.

Mendham High School presents another formidable championship threat, having dominated the NJAC-National division with a perfect 8-0 conference record and claiming both the NJAC Tournament title and Group 2 state championship. Coach Shira Brown's seventh season has successfully reloaded with experienced golfers despite graduating key contributors.

Seniors Murk Oechies, Jamie Ostaficiuk, and Nicholas Zawadiwsky join returning juniors Colin O'Connor and Kamran Basar to form a deep roster capable of defending multiple titles. Their comprehensive success across county, conference, and state levels demonstrates the program's championship pedigree.

Randolph High School brings impressive credentials as defending Morris County Tournament individual champion Achal Agnihotri returns for his senior campaign. The veteran Rams finished 15-6 overall while capturing the NJAC-United championship, establishing them as serious contenders across multiple competitions.

Coach Ryan Zavala's sixth season benefits from extensive senior leadership, with Agnihotri joined by Brayden Meditz, Tanner Beaudin, Jack Millward, and Vincent Crisafulli providing experience and depth throughout the lineup.

Madison High School achieved remarkable success in 2025, claiming both NJAC-Liberty co-championship honors and the Group 1 state title. Coach Matt Millichap's 20th season features an unprecedented eight seniors, including standouts Teo Bengtsson, Blake Steele, and Theo Bruns, who aim to conclude their high school careers with continued championship success.

The depth of senior leadership provides Madison with exceptional experience and course management skills that proved decisive in their state tournament run.

Emerging programs throughout the conference system demonstrate the growing strength of high school golf across New Jersey. Teams like Jefferson, which finished 16-6 while placing second in the Sussex Cup, and Newton, coming off a 16-9 campaign, represent the competitive balance that makes conference play compelling.

Wallkill Valley enters as defending NJAC-Freedom champions and Sussex Cup winners, led by juniors Patrick Garofano and Zachary Vierzchalek. Their success demonstrates how underclassmen-led programs can achieve immediate championship results.

The conference structure provides multiple pathways to postseason success, with teams competing for division titles, county championships, and state sectional berths. This multi-tiered approach ensures meaningful competition throughout the season while providing motivation for programs at different competitive levels.

Individual standouts across conferences will compete for county and state honors, with several returning all-conference performers positioned for significant achievements. The combination of team success and individual excellence continues to elevate New Jersey high school golf's national reputation.

As teams finalize their preparations for the 2026 campaign, the stage is set for another memorable season of high school golf that will showcase the Garden State's exceptional talent development and competitive depth.
