Gary Neville's media company The Overlap has purchased Manchester United influencer Mark Goldbridge's two YouTube channels — The United Stand and That's Football — in an undisclosed seven-figure deal that will reshape the football content landscape.

The worlds of football punditry and fan-driven content creation have collided in a major way, as Gary Neville's The Overlap announced it has acquired Mark Goldbridge's YouTube empire in a deal worth a seven-figure sum.

The purchase covers two properties: The United Stand, Goldbridge's flagship Manchester United channel boasting 2.26 million subscribers, and That's Football, a broader football platform with 1.46 million followers. Beyond YouTube, the deal also encompasses all associated social media accounts — meaning The Overlap is simultaneously picking up 4.4 million combined followers across TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook for The United Stand alone, plus nearly 350,000 more across That's Football's other platforms.

For Neville, the acquisition represents a significant step in the ambitions he has harboured since co-founding The Overlap in 2021. The company, which produces podcasts, videos, and social media content — most notably the hit show Stick to Football featuring Neville alongside Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, and Ian Wright — now commands a reach that stretches far beyond traditional punditry circles.

"We are building what we believe will become one of the most exciting independent football communities in the world — one that gives fans direct, personality-led content," said Neville, who serves as executive director of the company. "The United Stand and That's Football are two of the best-known football channels on YouTube, and our intention is to develop them into the most compelling Manchester United and football news channels in the market."

Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent di Cesare, has spent the past decade cultivating a reputation for unfiltered, often explosive reactions to United's fortunes — a style that has made him one of British football's most-watched online personalities. Clips of his most outlandish moments regularly go viral, and last year he became one of the first content creators to secure live broadcast rights for top-flight European football, winning a slot among the rights holders for Bundesliga matches during the 2025-26 season.

"I've spent the last 10 years building The United Stand for Manchester United fans and That's Football for all fans, and I'm prouder of that than anything I've ever done," said Goldbridge. "This deal is about what comes next. The Overlap has the ambition, the credibility, and the resources to help me take what I do to the next level."

Under the new ownership, both channels will undergo what The Overlap described as a "significant editorial expansion." Plans include a new strand called Stick to United, featuring former players and journalists, as well as a daily news show titled Daily United.

The deal arrives just months after media and entertainment giant Global acquired a majority stake in The Overlap in January, giving the company the financial firepower to pursue growth at this scale. Scott Melvin, the Overlap's executive director, framed the acquisition as a central plank in their longer-term strategy. "Mark has built two of the biggest audiences in this space, and this deal accelerates everything we are building towards," he said.

With a stated goal of reaching between 15 and 20 million fans across global platforms, The Overlap is betting that the appetite for personality-driven football content shows no sign of slowing down.
