Nebraska Baseball Erases Five-Run Deficit to Top No. 21 Oregon 10-8, Even Top-25 Series
It looked like it could get ugly early. Nebraska baseball found itself down 5-0 through the first two and a half innings against No. 21 Oregon on Saturday. What followed was anything but a capitulation.
The Huskers erupted for six runs in the fourth inning alone, completely turning the game on its head and never looking back as they closed out a 10-8 victory to even the top-25 series at one game apiece.
The star of the day at the plate was outfielder Case Sanderson, who went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs in a masterful performance. His power display provided the backbone of Nebraskas rally and gave the Huskers the breathing room they needed to hold on late.
Dylan Carey also got in on the long-ball action, connecting on a solo home run in the fourth inning as part of a 2-for-5 afternoon. Joshua Overbeek contributed a two-run hit, while Jett Buck added a double as part of a 3-for-4 day at the dish. Mac Moyer chipped in with a triple and Rhett Stokes and Max Buettenback each drove in a run.
Every starter in Nebraskas lineup recorded at least one hit on the day, a testament to the depth of the Husker offense that produced 15 total hits.
On the mound, Carson Jasa started the game and lasted 3.2 innings, surrendering six hits and five runs while striking out four. Caleb Clark picked up the win in relief, working 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball. JShawn Unger shut the door with his seventh save of the season, tossing the final two innings and allowing just one run.
Oregon managed eight runs on 11 hits but left too many runners stranded, unable to contain Nebraskas relentless offensive attack once the fourth-inning floodgates opened.
Nebraska (27-8, 12-2 Big Ten) wraps up the series on Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. CT on B1G+.
