Shaun Murphy has pulled level against Wu Yize at 4-4 in the first session of the World Snooker Championship final at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. According to BBC Sport, Murphy recovered from a sluggish start, trailing 3-0, before producing a strong fightback to restore parity before the mid-session interval.

Watch the highlights:

The match was briefly interrupted when a spectator was ejected for jumping over the barrier and entering the playing area. The incident caused a short delay as officials addressed the security breach.

Both players are competing for the prestigious world title in the traditional best-of-35-frames format. The final will continue across multiple sessions, with the match requiring 18 frames for victory.

Wu Yize, representing China, had been in dominant form early in the opening session, compiling breaks that put him in control. However, Murphy, the 2005 champion, demonstrated the experience that comes with previous Crucible success to claw his way back into contention.

The second session resumes later on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with the match concluding on Monday, May 4, 2026.
