Muriqi winner seals Fenerbahce comeback against Liverpool
Fenerbahce beat Liverpool 3-2 in Istanbul after recovering from two deficits, with Vedat Muriqi scoring the decisive header in a Champions League victory on Wednesday. BBC Sport reported that Liverpool had moved ahead for the second time through Alexander Isak in the 69th minute, only for the hosts to overturn that advantage before the 80th minute.

The result ended Liverpool's winning start to the competition after three victories. It also brought a second defeat in four days for Andoni Iraola's team, following their loss to Arsenal on Sunday. According to BBC Sport, Liverpool had never previously taken the lead so late in a major European match and then gone on to lose.
Trey Nyoni had opened the scoring with his first senior goal for Liverpool. The Guardian reported that the midfielder met a clearance from Archie Brown with a low volley that took a slight deflection off Kojo Peprah Oppong before beating Ederson. Fenerbahce responded through Mason Greenwood, whose free-kick struck Jérémy Jacquet and wrongfooted Alisson to bring the teams level.
Liverpool regained the lead after Iraola introduced Cody Gakpo and Isak. The substitutes had been on the pitch for only three minutes when Gakpo delivered a cross from the left and Isak headed in, according to the Guardian's match report. That combination put the visitors back in front, but Fenerbahce again answered before Liverpool could turn their advantage into a victory.
The equaliser followed a corner, with N'Golo Kanté sending the ball back across goal. Gakpo's attempted clearance diverted it away from Alisson and left Brown to finish at the far post. Brown then supplied a looping cross for Muriqi, who held off Liverpool defenders to head into the bottom corner. All three home goals originated from set-pieces: a free-kick, a corner and a long throw.
The victory came under interim Fenerbahce coach Dirk Kuyt, the former Liverpool player. BBC Sport reported that Emre Belozoglu would formally take over on Thursday. Kuyt praised his players' unity and Brown's contribution, while Iraola pointed to avoidable defensive errors and said the stadium noise had made communication difficult. Liverpool left Istanbul without a point despite having led twice.
