Muniz equaliser earns Fulham 1-1 draw with Newcastle
Rodrigo Muniz answered Jacob Murphy's late opener at Craven Cottage. Both goalkeepers then made saves to preserve the draw.

Rodrigo Muniz scored in the 83rd minute as Fulham drew 1-1 with Newcastle United at Craven Cottage on Saturday. The substitute's finish cancelled out Jacob Murphy's opener three minutes earlier. BBC Sport reported that the result extended Fulham's unbeaten Premier League run to four matches and denied Newcastle a much-needed victory.

Watch the highlights:

Fulham had threatened early without finding a breakthrough. According to Flashscore's match report, Oscar Bobb forced Lukas Hornicek to save inside the opening quarter-hour, before Gonzalo Garcia's header struck the top of the crossbar from the ensuing corner. At the other end, Bernd Leno used his leg to keep out Harvey Barnes after a low delivery from Murphy.

Newcastle also had a first-half effort disallowed when Dan Burn put the ball in from a corner, only for an off-the-ball foul to halt the celebrations. Flashscore reported that Josh King subsequently tested Hornicek with a volley before the interval. Neither side had scored by half-time, despite those opportunities, leaving the match level heading into the second period.

Murphy finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute. BBC Sport described him collecting a misplaced pass in Fulham's half, moving infield and beating Leno with a left-footed shot from 25 yards. Newcastle's advantage was brief: Cesar Palacios then found Muniz, whose improvised finish brought the home side back level before the visitors could see out the closing stages.

Both teams still had chances to take all three points. Leno stopped Lewis Hall, while Hornicek saved Ryan Sessegnon's powerful attempt in added time, according to the BBC. Those interventions ensured that neither late opportunity changed the score, after the two goals had transformed a match that remained goalless until its final 10 minutes.

Flashscore reported that Fulham finished the match on 10 points in 15th place, with Newcastle two points ahead in 11th. The draw continued Fulham's recent recovery: they have lost only once in their past seven league games, winning twice and drawing four times. Newcastle, meanwhile, have collected four points from their last five league matches under Matthias Jaissle.
