Chelsea's Mudryk takes drugs ban case to Court of Arbitration for Sport
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has escalated his legal battle against a Football Association drugs ban by referring the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Watch the highlights:
The Ukrainian international was issued a four-year ban by the FA following a disciplinary hearing. Mudryk, who has consistently maintained his innocence, is now pursuing the matter through the highest level of international sports arbitration.
His club Chelsea have supported the player throughout the process, though the ban remains in place pending the outcome of the appeal. The case will be reviewed by CAS, which serves as the final arbiter for disputes in global sport.
Mudryk joined Chelsea in January 2023 and has featured intermittently for the club since his arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk. The length of the ban had raised questions about his future at the Premier League side.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport operates independently and its decisions are generally binding. A ruling in Mudryk's favor could significantly reduce or overturn the original sanction.
