Mudryk Escalates Doping Ban Fight to Court of Arbitration for Sport

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is escalating his legal battle against a Football Association doping ban by appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The Ukraine international was banned by the FA after testing positive for a prohibited substance, resulting in a four-year suspension that threatens his football career. Mudryk has consistently maintained his innocence throughout the disciplinary process, with his representatives arguing there is no intentional wrongdoing. The case is now set to be heard by CAS, the highest international sports tribunal, which has the authority to uphold, reduce, or increase the original sanction. The ban has effectively ruled Mudryk out of competitive football since its imposition, denying Chelsea one of their significant attacking talents. Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 in a deal reportedly worth around £62 million.
