Moyes confirms Grealish remains unavailable as Everton return stays unresolved
David Moyes has confirmed Jack Grealish remains unavailable for Everton after missing two Newcastle matches. The manager expects to work with him again soon but has not set a return date.

Jack Grealish will remain out of Everton's team after David Moyes confirmed on Thursday that the Manchester City loanee was unavailable for the club's next Premier League fixture. BBC Sport reported that the manager expects to work with the midfielder again soon, but has not announced when he will return to selection.

Watch the highlights:

The 31-year-old had already missed Everton's two recent matches against Newcastle following a breach of club discipline. According to the BBC's reporting earlier in the week, the decision to leave him out of the Carabao Cup match was made by the club. Everton subsequently described his absence from Monday's league game as a fitness issue, while Moyes declined to elaborate.

Everton won both matches without Grealish: 3-1 in the cup and 1-0 in the Premier League at St James' Park. Thierno Barry scored the only goal in the league victory. Speaking to BBC Sport afterwards, Moyes said the club would be involved in deciding when Grealish became available again and declined to confirm whether the disciplinary matter had been concluded.

Thursday's update ruled out a return against Coventry at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Friday. PA's report, carried by RTE, said Moyes would not disclose Everton's plan for Grealish. Asked whether the international break offered an opportunity to resolve the situation, he gave no commitment, saying the club would have to see how matters developed.

Grealish is in his second loan spell at Everton after falling out of favour at Manchester City. BBC Sport reported that he scored twice in 22 appearances during last season's spell, which ended early because of injury, and had made six appearances this season before his latest absence. His City contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign.

Moyes also addressed Jarrad Branthwaite's condition, according to PA. The defender had been withdrawn with cramp late in Monday's victory, and Everton were monitoring him before deciding on his availability. Moyes remained hopeful Branthwaite could play, but did not confirm his involvement. Grealish's absence, by contrast, was confirmed, with the timetable for his return still unspecified.
