Morgan Gibbs-White fined and given six points for failing to identify driver
The Nottingham Forest midfielder was fined £660 and received six penalty points for failing to identify a driver. Costs and a surcharge brought the total court bill to £1,044.

Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been fined £660 and given six penalty points for failing to identify a driver following a traffic-light offence involving his Range Rover. BBC News reported that Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court also ordered him to pay £120 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge, taking the financial penalty to £1,044.

Watch the highlights:

The conviction concerned his failure to supply the driver's identity, rather than establishing that he had been behind the wheel when the vehicle passed the red light. According to court documents cited by the BBC, the 26-year-old did not answer two police letters asking him to confirm whether he had been driving at the time of the incident.

The original incident was recorded by a Nottinghamshire Police camera on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford. Court papers placed it at 15:17 GMT on 28 January and said the Range Rover crossed the lights 1.1 seconds after the signal changed to red. The unanswered correspondence followed police efforts to establish who was responsible for driving the vehicle that afternoon.

Investigators also encountered a discrepancy involving the registration number. BBC News reported that the number plate recorded with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency differed by one letter from the plate on the car. Nottinghamshire Police issued an alert for the vehicle, and officers from Staffordshire Police stopped the Range Rover in April and confirmed that it belonged to Gibbs-White.

The midfielder was convicted last Tuesday. A court official told the BBC that he had submitted neither a plea nor mitigation, and that sentencing took place behind closed doors through the Single Justice Procedure. The report did not identify the driver involved in the January traffic-light incident; the penalty imposed on Gibbs-White was for not providing that information.

Gibbs-White previously received a six-month driving ban in May 2025 after six speeding offences within three months, including two on the same day. In football, he joined Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022 and made his England debut in 2024. He has since accumulated 10 international appearances and was included in Thomas Tuchel's recent Nations League squad, according to the BBC.
