Monaco Beat PSG 2-1 to Preserve Perfect Ligue 1 Start

Monaco came from behind to defeat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, maintaining the only perfect record in Ligue 1 after three rounds. The Guardian reported that second-half goals from Nazinho and Stanis Idumbo completed the turnaround against the reigning European champions.

The result left Monaco with three wins from their opening three league matches under Filipe Luis. Their unbeaten opening extends across all competitions: Monaco have won each of their first five fixtures of the campaign and scored 12 goals during that run. The start has been achieved without Folarin Balogun, the club's leading scorer last season, who has missed the opening games but is expected to return soon.

Lamine Camara played a major role in the victory, producing an influential second-half performance days after a proposed transfer to Chelsea did not go through. According to The Guardian, Monaco had agreed to sell the 22-year-old midfielder before pulling back when the French transfer window had already closed and a planned replacement was no longer available.

Balogun also remained at Monaco after choosing not to complete a deadline-day move to Everton despite an agreement between the clubs. Monaco had already signed Matthis Abline from Nantes with Balogun's potential exit in mind. Keeping both Balogun and Camara strengthened the playing squad, but it also left financial work unresolved after the club had committed to lowering its wage bill and raising money from player sales.

Chief executive Thiago Scuro said Monaco would need to find other solutions, while Luis described a squad with too many centre-forwards, insufficient midfield cover and no recognised right-winger following Maghnes Akliouche's move to PSG. Those concerns have not prevented Monaco from taking maximum points in the league's opening weeks.

PSG, meanwhile, remain without a Ligue 1 victory through their first three matches for the first time since 2012. Monaco are seven points ahead of them at this early stage. The table can change quickly, but Friday's win supplied a significant result for Luis and confirmed Monaco's flawless competitive start while the club works through the consequences of an unsettled transfer deadline.
