Mikel Arteta signs Arsenal contract through 2030 after Premier League triumph
Mikel Arteta has extended his Arsenal contract until 2030 after leading the club to the Premier League title. The agreement replaces a deal that was due to expire at the end of this season.

Mikel Arteta has signed a new Arsenal contract until 2030, extending his commitment to the Premier League champions beyond a deal that was due to expire at the end of this season. BBC Sport reported the agreement on Wednesday, with the manager presenting the extension as an opportunity to build on the team's achievements rather than an endpoint to its progress.

Watch the highlights:

The 44-year-old Spaniard took charge in December 2019. The new agreement could therefore take his spell as Arsenal manager beyond a decade, although that remains dependent on him staying for the duration of the contract. BBC Sport had reported earlier this month that an improved deal had been agreed, ahead of the announcement confirming its completion.

Arsenal won the Premier League last season, adding to the FA Cup Arteta has also secured during his time in charge. His side reached the Champions League final in May but lost to Paris St-Germain. Those results form the immediate backdrop to the extension: a domestic championship and a European final appearance, but no Champions League trophy from that run.

According to BBC Sport, the new terms include a pay increase. The report put Arteta's existing annual salary at £10m, with an additional £5m in bonuses. It did not specify the precise salary under the new agreement. The confirmed change is therefore an improved contract running until 2030, rather than a publicly detailed new pay package.

In comments carried by the BBC, Arteta expressed his attachment to Arsenal and described continuing the relationship as a privilege. He spoke about the connection already established at the club and the memories created together, while emphasising his belief that further achievements are possible. His remarks placed the focus on what the team can still accomplish after its recent success.

Arsenal co-chairmen Stan and Josh Kroenke also welcomed the continuation of his tenure. They praised his understanding of the club's values and his commitment to extending the progress made since his return in 2019. With the contract settled, Arsenal retain the manager who delivered their latest league title as they continue the current campaign.
