Michael Page beats Nursulton Ruziboev by unanimous decision at UFC Paris
Michael 'Venom' Page defeated Nursulton Ruziboev by unanimous decision at UFC Paris, with all three judges scoring the middleweight bout 29-28. BBC Sport reported that the contest at Accor Arena was the final fight on the 39-year-old Londoner's current UFC contract, leaving his next move unresolved.
Watch the highlights:
Ruziboev controlled much of the opening round on the ground before Page began finding more opportunities in the middle of the fight. Page hurt the 32-year-old Uzbek fighter with a kick to the knee and later connected with an overhand right and an elbow, but neither man produced a sustained burst of offense.
According to the BBC's report, Page finished with 12 significant strikes while Ruziboev landed eight. The crowd became frustrated as the action slowed and jeers were audible when Page's hand was raised, despite the judges unanimously awarding him the victory.
The win took Page's UFC record to five victories from six appearances, with all five wins coming by decision. He joined the promotion in 2024 after establishing a reputation for unconventional striking and stoppages, but his fight against Ruziboev again went the full distance. The result made Page a free agent, although the BBC reported that re-signing with the UFC remains one possible outcome alongside a move elsewhere or a switch to boxing.
The official UFC results confirmed Page's unanimous-decision win and the three matching scorecards. The bout formed part of UFC Fight Night: Hooker versus Parnasse in Paris on September 5. In the main event, French-Moroccan newcomer Salahdine Parnasse stopped Dan Hooker by technical knockout in the first round after a body kick, a left hook and follow-up punches.
Britain's Kurtis Campbell also won on the card, submitting Trevor Peek with a rear-naked choke in the third round of their featherweight contest. Fellow Londoner Nathaniel Wood lost a unanimous decision to late replacement Pavel Andrusca, ending Wood's four-fight winning streak, according to BBC Sport.
