McIlroy Makes History Again With Back-to-Back Masters Victory
Rory McIlroy claimed his second consecutive Green Jacket at Augusta, holding off Scottie Scheffler by a single stroke in a nail-biting final round.

Rory McIlroy is a two-time Masters champion. The Northern Irishman delivered a composed one-under-par final round at Augusta National on Sunday to claim his second successive Green Jacket, edging out American Scottie Scheffler by one stroke in a thrilling conclusion to the 2026 Masters.

McIlroy entered the final day with work to do but displayed the composure that has defined his recent dominance on the PGA Tour. With the pressure cranked up over the closing holes, the 36-year-old never wavered, converting clutch putts when it mattered most to become only the seventh player in Masters history to win back-to-back titles.

Scheffler, the world number two and a two-time major winner, pushed McIlroy all the way but ultimately had to settle for second place. The Texan had drawn level on the back nine but a crucial bogey at the 17th left him requiring an eagle at the last to force a play-off. It never materialised.

The victory caps a remarkable run for McIlroy, who first captured the Masters in 2019 after years of near misses. This latest triumph puts him firmly on course to complete the career Grand Slam, with the PGA Championship and US Open still to come in 2026.

Augusta National has witnessed some memorable final-round drama over the years, but McIlroy's latest escapade will take its place among them. With his nerve tested to the full, he delivered when it counted most. The Green Jacket stays in Irish hands.
