McDavid's four-point night lifts Oilers past Kings for fifth straight win
Connor McDavid contributed to every Edmonton goal in a 4-1 victory over Los Angeles. Devon Levi made 39 saves as the Oilers extended their winning streak to five games.

Connor McDavid scored once and supplied three assists as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Tuesday, October 13, extending their winning streak to five games. According to the Associated Press, Edmonton improved to 5-0-1, with McDavid producing a goal and two assists in the opening period alone.

Watch the highlights:

Vasily Podkolzin scored twice and Leon Draisaitl added the other Edmonton goal, while Devon Levi stopped 39 shots. Podkolzin's double took him to seven goals for the season. The Oilers have scored at least three times in each of their first six games, and Evan Bouchard contributed two assists against Los Angeles.

The early scoring sequence gave Edmonton a lead it never surrendered. OilersNation reported that McDavid first delivered the puck low to Draisaitl for the opener, then created a rebound that Podkolzin converted on the power play a minute later. Those two contributions put the Kings behind before McDavid added a goal of his own to complete the first-period scoring.

That third goal followed a long pass from Ty Emberson, which McDavid collected before getting past Darcy Kuemper. The Oilers captain was playing his 800th NHL game, according to OilersNation. He later assisted on Podkolzin's empty-net finish, meaning he had been involved in every Edmonton goal as the visitors protected their advantage through the closing stages.

Los Angeles received its only goal from Brandt Clarke on a shot through traffic late in the second period, AP reported. Anton Forsberg had replaced Kuemper at the start of that period. The defeat left the Kings at 0-3-2 under Peter Laviolette, still seeking their first victory of the season despite generating enough shots to keep Levi busy.

The result also completed Edmonton's sweep of a California trip that included victories over Anaheim and San Jose, OilersNation reported. McDavid credited Levi with helping preserve the lead and acknowledged that the final two periods were less convincing than the opening one. Edmonton nevertheless finished the trip with three wins from three games, backed in the finale by its captain's four-point contribution and Levi's work in goal.
