Mbangula hat-trick powers Bologna past Milan in 4-2 comeback win
Samuel Mbangula scored three times as Bologna overturned a half-time deficit to beat Milan 4-2 at San Siro. Alphadjo Cisse's double could not prevent Milan's first Serie A defeat of the season.

Samuel Mbangula scored a hat-trick as Bologna beat Milan 4-2 at San Siro on Wednesday, overturning a 2-1 half-time deficit to end the hosts' unbeaten start in Serie A. Pianeta Milan reported that Raffaele Palladino's side won the ninth-round encounter despite two first-half goals from Alphadjo Cisse.

Watch the highlights:

Mbangula opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but Cisse equalised in the 14th and put Milan ahead in the 27th. Pianeta Milan's match record placed Bologna's decisive response at the hour mark: a Davide Bartesaghi own goal made it 2-2 before Mbangula struck again in the 62nd minute. His third followed in the 86th.

Football Italia's match report described Nadir Zortea creating the opener after Bologna recovered possession in midfield. Milan's equaliser followed an Arthur Theate mistake, while Cisse met Fikayo Tomori's delivery with a volley for his second. The home side therefore reached the interval in front after recovering from Bologna's early breakthrough, only to lose control after the restart.

Juan Miranda played a central role in the turnaround. According to Football Italia, his free-kick was diverted into Milan's net by Bartesaghi, and he then supplied Mbangula from the left for the goal that restored Bologna's lead. The forward used his first touch to escape two defenders before finishing from close range, completing the visitors' rapid reversal.

Milan still threatened an equaliser through Francesco Camarda, whose header went narrowly wide. Bologna instead extended their advantage when Jens Odgaard supplied Mbangula following another midfield turnover. Football Italia also reported a late save by Lukasz Skorupski from Christian Pulisic's diving header, leaving the visitors with a two-goal winning margin.

The result also brought significant milestones for Bologna. Sport Mediaset, citing Opta, reported that this was their first four-goal away performance against Milan in Serie A. Mbangula became only the second player to score a Serie A hat-trick away to Milan, after Gabriel Batistuta for Fiorentina in 1998. The victory lifted Bologna to 11 points, while Milan remained on 18.
