Marc Marquez Wins Third Consecutive Aragon Grand Prix

Marc Marquez won the Aragon Grand Prix for a third consecutive year on Sunday, strengthening his position in the 2026 MotoGP championship race. BBC Sport reported that the reigning world champion took his eighth victory at MotorLand for Ducati and moved within 19 points of championship leader Jorge Martin.

Marquez's win followed his victory in Saturday's sprint and completed a successful weekend at the Spanish circuit. The decisive moment of the grand prix came on lap six, when Marquez passed Aprilia polesitter Marco Bezzecchi at high speed. The two riders nearly made contact during an intense fight for the lead, but Marquez completed the move and went on to secure the race victory.

KTM rider Pedro Acosta finished second, splitting Marquez and Bezzecchi on the podium. Bezzecchi took third after starting from pole. According to BBC Sport's report, Bezzecchi said he heard Marquez's bike at turn 15 and tried to cross the line as the slipstream affected both riders. He also described Marquez as unbeatable on the day, pointing to the champion's experience and speed.

Championship leader Martin finished fifth for Aprilia. That result, combined with Marquez's victory, left Martin on 256 points and Marquez on 237. Marquez also moved past Bezzecchi in the standings, taking second place in the championship as Bezzecchi remained close behind on 232 points.

The result added another Aragon success to Marquez's record at a venue where he has now won eight times. It also extended his run of grand prix victories there to three years, while the sprint win showed that his pace carried across both of the weekend's competitive races.

The championship order after Aragon therefore has three riders separated by 24 points: Martin leads Marquez by 19, while Bezzecchi is five points behind Marquez. For Ducati's Marquez, the weekend delivered the maximum headline result and a move from third to second in the standings. Martin retained the lead for Aprilia, but his advantage was reduced by Marquez's victory, keeping the title contest closely grouped at the top.
