Lutz kicks Broncos past Seahawks in overtime after McMillian interception
Denver beat Seattle 17-14 on a 53-yard Wil Lutz field goal in overtime, improving to 4-2 after the Seahawks forced an extra period.

Wil Lutz's 53-yard field goal in overtime gave the Denver Broncos a 17-14 home victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. According to Associated Press reporting, Ja'Quan McMillian's interception of Sam Darnold set up the decisive kick after Seattle had recovered from an 11-point deficit.

Watch the highlights:

Denver improved to 4-2, while the defending Super Bowl champions fell to 3-3 with their second defeat in five days. Seattle has already equalled its loss total from last season. The Broncos' defense recorded five sacks and 17 quarterback hits, the AP reported.

Seattle's fourth-quarter touchdown drive included an 18-yard Darnold scramble on third-and-10 and a 13-yard George Holani run, according to Sports Illustrated's play-by-play. Holani then scored from a yard out, and Darnold found Rashid Shaheed for the two-point conversion to cut Denver's lead to 14-11. That sequence brought Seattle within a field goal after neither side scored in the third quarter.

Kris Abrams-Draine subsequently intercepted Darnold, but Seattle forced another punt. Shaheed's 31-yard return gave the visitors possession at their own 46. Completions to AJ Barner, Shaheed, Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba advanced the ball into kicking range. Jason Myers converted from 34 yards, bringing the teams level at 14-14 with three seconds remaining in regulation and sending the game into overtime.

Sports Illustrated's statistics showed Darnold finishing with 278 passing yards, completing 27 of 51 attempts without a touchdown and throwing two interceptions. Smith-Njigba caught 12 passes for 134 yards, while Emanuel Wilson gained 52 yards on 14 carries. Denver quarterback Bo Nix completed 17 of 27 passes for 107 yards, with neither a passing touchdown nor an interception.

Denver secured the win despite missing cornerback Patrick Surtain II and safety Talanoa Hufanga because of ankle injuries, according to the AP. Seattle tight end Elijah Arroyo left late in the first half with an apparent right shoulder injury. Denver receiver Jaylen Waddle returned after being evaluated for a shoulder injury. Broncos running back Tyler Badie also injured a thumb during the second quarter.
