Liverpool sign Bradley Barcola in £123m transfer from Paris Saint-Germain

Liverpool have signed France forward Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a £123 million transfer, according to The Guardian. The 24-year-old moves to Anfield after three seasons with PSG, adding another high-profile attacking option to Andoni Iraola's squad following the summer transfer window.

The Guardian reports that Barcola made leaving Paris a priority despite having a PSG contract that ran until 2028. His transfer gives the French club a profit of close to €100 million and makes him their most expensive departure, surpassing the €90 million fee received from Al-Hilal for Neymar. PSG brought in about €350 million through player sales during the window, a Ligue 1 record.

Barcola remained involved throughout much of PSG's European campaign last season. He started every Champions League match through the second leg of the last-16 tie against Chelsea before moving to the bench for the later rounds. He appeared as a substitute in each of the past two Champions League finals, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia increasingly preferred on the left.

The winger developed at Lyon and made his senior debut during the 2021-22 season. One full campaign in Lyon's first team was enough to persuade PSG to pay €45 million for him. The Guardian says Barcola did not agitate publicly for the Liverpool move, while PSG left him out of early-season matchday squads to protect him as the transfer developed.

His strongest statistical campaign came in 2024-25, when he recorded 21 goals and 21 assists. Barcola has also scored six times for France, with three of those goals coming at the most recent World Cup. His pace, dribbling and runs behind defences have made the left flank his primary position, although he has also been used elsewhere across the attack.

Barcola said in his first Liverpool interview that he did not hesitate when the club made its approach. One of his former Lyon youth coaches, Amaury Barlet, told The Guardian that Liverpool had been Barcola's dream during his teenage years. The move now gives the forward the larger role he was seeking after competition for places limited his starts in PSG's biggest matches.
