Littler closes gap at top of Premier League table with dominant win over Clayton in Liverpool
Luke Littler delivered a commanding performance to defeat Gerwyn Price in Liverpool, reducing the gap at the top of the Premier League table and silencing a hostile home crowd.

Luke Littler produced a masterclass performance at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Thursday evening, securing a decisive victory over Gerwyn Price that significantly narrows the gap at the top of the Premier League Darts standings. The young sensation, who has been in scintillating form throughout the season, showcased his remarkable composure under pressure to claim the victory in front of a vociferous crowd that had initially turned hostile.

The 22-year-old began the match in electric fashion, averaging over 105 in the opening leg and establishing an early lead that Price could never quite recover from. Littler's finishing was clinical, converting 64% of his double attempts, while his checkout percentage on high finishes proved the difference between the two players. Despite Price's best efforts to rally in the middle stages of the match, Littler responded with three consecutive legs to seal a commanding 7-3 victory.

Speaking after the match, Littler acknowledged the challenging atmosphere but revealed he used the crowd's negativity as motivation. "I knew it would be hostile here tonight, but I love proving people wrong," he said. "Every time they booed, I felt more determined to put in a performance. The table doesn't lie – I'm getting closer to the top and that's where I belong."

The win moves Littler to within touching distance of league leader Luke Humphries, dramatically reducing the gap with just five nights of action remaining. Tournament organizers confirmed the victory puts him in prime position to secure a top-four finish and guarantee his spot in the playoffs for the first time in his young career.

Price, who suffered his third consecutive defeat, admitted his disappointment but praised Littler's quality. "There's a reason he's world number one. He doesn't give you anything easy, and tonight he was simply untouchable. I need to regroup and come back stronger." The result leaves Price sitting fifth in the table, outside the playoff positions with work to do in the closing stages of the campaign.
