Late Ladefoged Goal Earns Lincoln Point as Stoke Hit Four

Mikkel Ladefoged scored his first goal in English football to earn Lincoln City a late 1-1 draw against Southampton in the Championship on Saturday. The Press Association, reporting via The Guardian, said the record signing struck near the end at the ProAmpac Stadium to prevent Southampton from taking all three points.

Southampton had led from just before half-time through Welington, whose powerful effort was also his first goal for the club. That advantage appeared likely to decide the match until Ladefoged equalized late, securing a point for Lincoln against a side identified in the report as one of the division’s promotion favorites.

Elsewhere, Stoke City delivered the day’s most emphatic result by beating Charlton Athletic 4-0 at the Bet365 Stadium. Debutant Justin Devenny scored twice, while Ethan Galbraith and George Hirst also found the net as Stoke established its decisive lead before the interval. Charlton arrived without a league defeat this season but could not recover from the first-half damage.

Charlton’s position worsened shortly after the restart when substitute Danny McNamara received two yellow cards within three minutes. He was first booked for pulling back Eric Bocat and then dismissed in the 50th minute after confronting referee Robert Madley. Stoke did not add to its total against the 10 men, but the four first-half goals were enough to complete a comfortable victory.

Preston North End also collected its first win of the season, defeating local rival Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Deepdale. Callum Lang supplied both Preston goals, opening the scoring with a close-range finish in the ninth minute before heading in his second in the 28th minute.

Blackburn pulled one back early in the second half when Stanley Mills inadvertently scored an own goal on only his second start for Preston. The hosts protected their one-goal advantage through the remainder of the match, completing the derby win and joining Lincoln, Southampton and Stoke among the teams taking points from the latest round of Championship fixtures.
