Labuschagne hits 111 as Australia draw South Africa warm-up
Marnus Labuschagne scored his first century in 11 months as Australia's warm-up ended in a draw. The three-Test series begins in Durban on October 9.

Marnus Labuschagne scored 111 as Australia's two-day warm-up against a Cricket South Africa Invitation XI ended in a draw in Potchefstroom on Sunday. Australian Associated Press reported that the innings was his first century in any form of cricket for 11 months, ahead of the Test series against South Africa.

Watch the highlights:

The scorecard published by Cricbuzz records Labuschagne's 111 from 89 deliveries, with 19 fours and no sixes, at a strike rate of 124.72. His boundary hitting accounted for 76 runs, with the remaining 35 coming through singles and twos. He scored runs against all six bowlers he faced.

According to AAP, Labuschagne reached his hundred in 76 balls before later retiring to give other batters time in the middle. Steve Smith also retired, having made 61, while Alex Carey contributed 57. Australia finished on 368 for six as several members of the batting order got a workout.

Matt Renshaw made 32 from 50 balls and Travis Head scored 21 from 22, while Beau Webster retired on 42. AAP's report placed Labuschagne in contention to retain the number three role for Durban, rather than reporting a confirmed selection for the opening Test.

The match was preparation rather than a first-class fixture, a distinction noted in Cricket Australia's opening-day report. Pat Cummins used 11 bowlers on Saturday, with workloads largely allocated in advance. Neil Brand led the hosts' batting with 152 from 174 balls, helping them reach 318 for seven. His innings included five sixes and ended when Head caught him off Webster from the day's final delivery.

Cricket Australia reported that Nathan Lyon returned figures of one for 31 from 14 overs during that opening-day workout. The tour now moves towards a three-match Test series, starting at Kingsmead in Durban on October 9. The second Test is scheduled for Gqeberha from October 18, with Cape Town hosting the third from October 27. Labuschagne's century was therefore part of Australia's final red-ball preparation before the series begins.
