Korda Sets 36-Hole Scoring Record for Chevron Championship at -14
Nelly Korda breaks the Chevron Championship scoring record after 36 holes, reaching 14-under-par to establish a three-shot lead through the first two rounds at The Woodlands.

Nelly Korda continues to dominate the Chevron Championship, setting a new 36-hole scoring record after two rounds of play. The American star posted a remarkable 7-under-par 65 in her second round to reach 14-under-par overall, establishing a three-shot lead over nearest rivals Yuka Nagako and Wei Lihua at The Woodlands in Texas.

Korda's exceptional performance has drawn comparisons to her best seasons, with the Olympic gold medalist looking every bit the world No. 1 player she once was. Her round featured eight birdies against just one bogey, showcasing the form that has made her one of the most feared players on the LPGA Tour. The three-shot advantage after 36 holes matches her largest halfway lead in a major championship.

The Texas-born golfer enjoyed the support of a hometown crowd, with many fans following her group throughout the morning round. Korda's approach play was particularly impressive, hitting 14 of 18 greens in regulation and averaging 287 yards off the tee. Her putting was equally solid, needing just 26 putts for the round.

Speaking after her round, Korda expressed her satisfaction with her performance while acknowledging the challenges still ahead. "I've been working hard on my game this season, and it's great to see the results come together," she said. "The course suits my game well, but there are two more rounds to go and a lot of quality players behind me."

The Chevron Championship holds special significance as the first major of the year on the LPGA Tour. Korda is seeking her third major title and first since the 2024 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Her nearest competitors face an uphill battle to catch her, with the cut line expected to fall around level par when the second round concludes.
