Korda Finds Form and Favorite Coffee Spots While Contending at Founders Cup
World number two Nelly Korda shoots 68 to sit tied for fourth at Fortinet Founders Cup while discovering Northern California coffee culture during LPGA debut at Sharon Heights.

Nelly Korda has positioned herself as a legitimate contender at the Fortinet Founders Cup while simultaneously discovering some exceptional coffee establishments during the LPGA Tour debut at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Northern California.

The world number two posted a solid second-round 68 Friday to reach six-under-par total, placing her in a tie for fourth position just two strokes behind leader Hyo Joo Kim, who opened the tournament with an impressive 63 on Thursday before completing her second round in the afternoon wave.

Korda performance highlights a compelling storyline at the top of the leaderboard, where the world top two players have produced contrasting results through the opening rounds. While Korda has steadily climbed into contention with consistent scoring, world number one Jeeno Thitikul struggled with an opening-round even-par 72 that left her outside the top 40 after 18 holes.

Both players entered the week having already secured victories during the early portion of the 2026 LPGA season, setting up what many anticipated would be a compelling head-to-head battle for supremacy at the tour first visit to the prestigious private venue near Stanford University.

The Sharon Heights layout has presented unique challenges for the field, demanding strategic course management and precise shot-making that has tested even the most accomplished players. Korda acknowledged the tactical demands during her post-round media session, emphasizing the shot-shaping requirements that distinguish this venue from typical tour stops.

Just tricky, Korda explained when describing her approach to the course. Yesterday played different to today for me as for tee shots. I backed down off driver a couple times, hit my 3-wood. It really tricky. You really have to shape it out here.

The American star elaborated on the specific challenges presented by the course architecture, noting how players must adapt their approach based on individual hole characteristics rather than relying on a consistent strategy throughout the round.

I would not say it a draw-biased golf course or fade-biased golf course, she continued. You kind of have to work it both ways here. Some of the trees are a little bit intimidating and the greens are tough, too. Not only are they really undulated, but sometimes they a little bit harder to read, too.

Beyond her competitive performance, Korda has embraced the opportunity to explore the local coffee culture, quickly identifying preferred establishments that meet her standards for quality beverages. Her morning routine has already incorporated visits to multiple highly-regarded coffee shops within reasonable proximity to the tournament venue.

Saint Frank is pretty good. I like their flat white, Korda revealed. Then I went to 1 Oz. That was pretty good but a little further away. So Saint Frank is pretty close.

Her attention to nutrition extends beyond her beverage choices, with Korda seeking dining options that align with her dietary preferences and performance goals. She specifically highlighted True Food Kitchen on campus as a preferred dining destination due to their preparation methods.

There is a True Food on campus and I just like it because it seed oil free, she explained. So I just, yesterday I cooked right after my round.

The tournament setup at Sharon Heights represents a significant addition to the LPGA Tour schedule, bringing elite women professional golf to a venue renowned for its challenging design and pristine conditioning. The private club setting provides an intimate atmosphere while maintaining the competitive standards expected at the highest level of professional golf.

With two rounds remaining, Korda finds herself well-positioned to challenge for her second LPGA victory of 2026, while her thorough exploration of Northern California coffee culture suggests she has found multiple reasons to appreciate this new tournament destination beyond purely competitive considerations.
