Kieffer Moore targets full season after opening goal for Wrexham
Kieffer Moore has taken additional recovery measures in an effort to stay fit throughout Wrexham’s new Championship campaign. The 34-year-old Wales striker began the season by scoring inside three minutes of Monday’s 1-1 draw with Cardiff City, BBC Sport reported.

Moore’s early finish gave Wrexham the lead in the Welsh derby before Rubin Colwill equalised for Cardiff in the closing stages. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson praised Moore’s performance as the team’s central striker, while the forward said his priority was to maintain his early momentum across the full season. No player won more aerial duels in the match, according to BBC Sport.
The fitness focus follows a disrupted first campaign at the Racecourse. Moore joined Wrexham from Sheffield United last summer and scored 12 goals by December 26 as the club challenged for promotion. Before his first extended absence, he had played more minutes than any other specialist striker in the Championship. Injuries, including a hamstring problem, then limited his rhythm and he scored only once more before Wrexham’s promotion bid ended with a 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough on the final day.
Moore’s injury problems also kept him out of Wales’ World Cup play-offs. The 54-cap international watched as Bosnia-Herzegovina eliminated Craig Bellamy’s team on penalties. BBC Sport reported that Moore used the summer to improve his conditioning while also taking time to rest.
The striker said he had bought additional recovery equipment and invested in measures designed to help him withstand a demanding Championship schedule. He did not provide specific details of the new routine, although he was pictured undertaking private training sessions during the off-season. His goal against Cardiff offered an immediate return as Wrexham began the 2026-27 league season.
Moore’s availability is particularly significant for a team that surrendered 24 points from winning positions last season. Parkinson said Wrexham needed to be more ruthless but noted that last season’s leading scorer, Josh Windass, was nearing a return from injury. No new arrivals were expected before Saturday’s home match against Watford, leaving Moore positioned to retain a central role in Wrexham’s attack.
