Khadija Shaw misses 2026 FIFPRO Women's World 11 shortlist
Khadija Shaw is absent from FIFPRO's 26-player shortlist despite her Ballon d'Or podium finish. The peer-voted Women's World 11 will be revealed on November 9.

Khadija Shaw is absent from the 26-player shortlist for the 2026 FIFPRO Women's World 11, despite finishing third in the Ballon d'Or. FIFPRO released its finalists on Monday, with Ella Toone, Chloe Kelly and Aggie Beever-Jones among those included. The final team will be announced on November 9, so inclusion at this stage does not yet mean a player has won a place.

According to BBC Sport, Shaw was Manchester City's leading scorer as they won the league and FA Cup double, recording 21 goals in 22 league appearances. She also won the Women's Super League Player of the Year award. Other players missing from the shortlist include Temwa Chawinga, Melchie Dumornay, Caroline Graham Hansen and Pernille Harder, alongside England internationals Lauren Hemp and Lauren James.

FIFPRO said 6,511 women's footballers from 64 countries voted in this year's selection. The assessment period ran from August 4, 2025, to August 16, 2026, and players needed at least 20 official appearances during that window to qualify. The award is determined exclusively by professional footballers, with the shortlist reflecting the votes cast by their peers rather than the Ballon d'Or standings.

Chelsea confirmed that five of their players have reached the finalist stage: Beever-Jones, Lucy Bronze, Ellie Carpenter, Hannah Hampton and Katie McCabe. The club also noted that Bronze made the final XI for a record eighth time last year, when Hampton and former Chelsea captain Millie Bright were included as well.

Manchester United confirmed Toone's place among the seven midfield finalists. The other names in that category are Aitana Bonmati, Ghizlane Chebbak, Patri Guijarro, Anaele Le Moguedec, Vicky Lopez and Alexia Putellas. In goal, Hampton is shortlisted alongside Ann-Katrin Berger and Catalina Coll, while the forward nominees include Barbra Banda, Ada Hegerberg, Ewa Pajor and Alessia Russo.

The final selection will contain one goalkeeper and three players in each of defence, midfield and attack, chosen by their positional vote totals. The remaining place goes to the outfield player with the next-highest tally. FIFPRO will reveal the team through its digital platforms at 13:00 GMT on Monday, November 9.
