Kelly and Tector Return to Ireland Squad for England ODI Series
Arlene Kelly and Alice Tector are back from injury in Ireland’s 14-player squad for September’s three-match ODI series against England. The fixtures form part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle.

Ireland have recalled Arlene Kelly and Alice Tector for September’s three-match one-day international series against England after both players recovered from injury. BBC Sport reported that the pair have been included in head coach Lloyd Tennant’s 14-player squad for the tour, which opens in Leicester on September 1.

Watch the highlights:

Kelly and Tector were unavailable when Ireland lost their ODI series against West Indies 3-0 in July. Their return strengthens a group that will again be led by Gaby Lewis, with Orla Prendergast named as vice-captain after representing Welsh Fire in The Hundred.

Ireland will still travel without three injured players. Aimee Maguire, Sarah Forbes and Ava Canning have all been ruled out, according to BBC Sport. The selected squad also includes Christina Coulter Reilly, Georgina Dempsey, Amy Hunter, Louise Little, Jane Maguire, Lara McBride, Kia McCartney, Cara Murray, Leah Paul and Rebecca Stokell.

Preparations begin with a warm-up match against an ECB Development XI on August 29. Before that fixture, Tector, Coulter Reilly and McBride are due to play for Emerging Ireland in the ECB Super 4s from August 24 to 28. Tector will captain that under-19 side before the three players join the senior squad.

The ODI series starts at 1pm BST in Leicester on September 1. The second match is scheduled for Derby at 1pm BST on September 3, before the teams complete the series in Worcester with a 10:30am BST start on September 6. All three games count toward the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle.

Ireland selector Lauren Rowles said the championship’s regular matches against leading international teams support the development and competitiveness of the squad. She also highlighted the value of genuine competition for senior places in raising standards and motivating players to make the most of their opportunities. Kelly and Tector’s availability adds to that selection competition as Ireland prepare for the England series.
