Kayla White Clocks 22.18 to Lead Lausanne Women's 200m
Kayla White won the women's 200 metres at the Lausanne Diamond League in 22.18 seconds, with Amy Hunt edging Favour Ofili for second. Shericka Jackson did not finish after pulling up on the bend.

Kayla White won the women's 200 metres at the Lausanne Diamond League on Friday, crossing the line in 22.18 seconds. BBC Sport reported that Britain's Amy Hunt finished second in 22.32, narrowly beating Nigeria's Favour Ofili after the two athletes reached the line in a photo finish.

Watch the highlights:

The victory gave American sprinter White a clear margin at the front, while the closest contest unfolded behind her. Sky Sports also recorded Hunt's time as 22.32 and reported that the Briton edged Ofili for the runner-up position. A separate report carried by Yahoo said the difference between Hunt and Ofili was three-thousandths of a second.

The race did not go to plan for every leading entrant. Two-time world champion Shericka Jackson pulled up on the bend and did not finish, with BBC Sport and Sky Sports reporting a leg injury. No detailed diagnosis or recovery timetable was included in the available reporting. Two-time Diamond League champion Brittany Brown did not start the race, according to BBC Sport.

Hunt arrived in Lausanne less than a week after winning four gold medals at the European Championships in Birmingham. She took the 100m and 200m titles and was also part of Britain's victorious women's 4x100m and mixed 4x100m relay teams. BBC Sport reported that the sweep made her the first athlete to win four gold medals at a single edition of the European Championships.

Her Lausanne performance did not match her 22.19 season best cited by BBC Sport, but it extended a notable run with another podium finish against an international field. White, however, controlled the result on the clock, finishing 0.14 seconds ahead of Hunt and establishing herself as the clear winner rather than requiring a review at the line.

The Lausanne meeting was the latest stop on the 2026 Diamond League circuit. BBC Sport listed Silesia, Poland, as the next meeting on Sunday, August 23, followed by Zurich on Thursday, August 27. The season-ending meeting is scheduled for Brussels across September 4 and 5, giving the leading athletes further opportunities on the circuit after Friday's result in Switzerland.
