Juventus Land Pape Matar Sarr and Agree Nick Woltemade Loan

Juventus have announced the signing of Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr on an initial loan and agreed a separate season-long loan for Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade. BBC Sport reported the two moves on Tuesday as the Serie A club added both midfield and attacking options before the transfer deadline.

According to the BBC, Juventus will pay Tottenham about 2.5 million euros (£2.1 million) for Sarr's loan. The agreement includes an obligation to buy the 23-year-old Senegal international for 27.5 million euros (£23.6 million) if specified conditions are met during the 2026-27 season. The precise conditions were not detailed in the report.

Sarr joined Tottenham from Metz in 2021 and went on to make more than 100 Premier League appearances for the north London club. He was part of the Spurs side that won the Europa League in 2025. At international level, Sarr has made 42 appearances for Senegal since debuting in 2021 and was a member of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022.

Juventus have also reached an agreement to take Woltemade from Newcastle for the season. The BBC said the arrangement is worth £3.5 million and does not contain an option to make the transfer permanent. The 24-year-old German forward is expected to travel to Turin for a medical before completing the move.

Woltemade arrived at Newcastle from Stuttgart in August 2025 in a club-record £69 million transfer. He has started one of new manager Matthias Jaissle's opening three matches. In his latest appearance, Woltemade came off the bench and set up Yoane Wissa's goal as Newcastle won 2-0 away to Tottenham on Saturday.

Juventus had been seeking another forward with Jonathan David expected to join Atletico Madrid on loan. BBC Sport reported that the Italian club had also held talks over Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, but preferred Woltemade's fit and lower cost. Newcastle, meanwhile, announced the arrival of Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo for an initial £51.4 million on Tuesday, a move the BBC had previously identified as potentially opening the way for Woltemade's departure.
