Juventus agree season-long loan for Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade

Juventus have agreed a season-long loan deal for Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade, according to reporting by BBC Sport. The agreement gives the Serie A club a late addition to its attack while allowing Newcastle to retain the forward's long-term registration.

The transfer was not yet formally complete early on Tuesday. Sky Sport Germany reported that Woltemade had approved the move and was travelling to Italy for a medical, placing the deal in its final stages. Both Sky and Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the arrangement is a straight loan without an option to buy.

That structure means Woltemade is scheduled to return to Newcastle after the 2026-27 campaign rather than giving Juventus a pre-agreed route to a permanent transfer. It also limits the certainty around his longer-term future: the clubs have settled the temporary move, but the medical and final signing steps still had to be completed at the time of the reports.

Woltemade, a 24-year-old Germany international, moved to Newcastle from Stuttgart in 2025. At 1.98 metres, he offers Juventus a physically distinctive option in the forward line, although Gazzetta noted that he can operate either as a central striker or in a supporting role behind another forward. That versatility gives the Italian club more than one way to use its prospective arrival.

His first Premier League season produced eight goals and three assists in 33 appearances, according to AS. He also recorded one goal and one assist across 10 Champions League matches. Woltemade began the new domestic campaign with limited minutes: Goal reported that he was an unused substitute in Newcastle's 2-2 draw with Liverpool before appearing from the bench in the 2-0 win over Tottenham.

The move emerged as Juventus worked to reshape its attack before the transfer deadline. For Newcastle, a loan without a purchase clause keeps open the possibility of reintegrating Woltemade next season. For Juventus, the immediate priority is completing the medical and registration process before the agreement can become an official transfer.
