Justin Ellis winner against Canada seals four wins from four for USMNT
Justin Ellis scored in a 1-0 win over Canada as the United States completed its international window with four victories.

The United States completed a four-match international window with four victories after beating Canada 1-0 at Allianz Field in St. Paul on Tuesday, October 6. Justin Ellis provided the decisive goal, according to MLSsoccer.com's match report.

Watch the highlights:

Ellis, 19, converted a cross from former Orlando City teammate Alex Freeman after the defender exchanged passes with Malik Tillman on the right. MLSsoccer.com reported that the forward had been limping before scoring and went off at halftime with a knock. The goal was his second in two national-team starts.

Canada threatened an equalizer after the break when Luc de Fougerolles met a delivery from Mathieu Choiniere. His volley struck the crossbar after a touch from American goalkeeper Brian Schwake, MLSsoccer.com reported. Schwake's clean sheet helped preserve the narrow advantage through the end of the match.

U.S. Soccer's official lineup notes show that Pochettino changed six starters from the preceding match against Mexico. The selected team averaged 23 years and 156 days in age and 21 international appearances. Chris Richards captained the side for the fourth time, partnering Auston Trusty in defense again after the pair had started the Mexico victory together.

There were individual milestones within that reshuffled lineup. Schwake made his first international start after previously appearing as a substitute against Chile. Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mathis Albert, aged 17 years and 138 days, also started for the first time after coming off the bench in each of the window's first three matches. Yunus Musah reached 50 caps, while Freeman made his 25th consecutive appearance for the national team.

The Canada result followed wins against Peru, Chile and Mexico. According to U.S. Soccer's account of those earlier games, the Americans had scored at least three goals in each, with at least three different scorers every time. Ellis' finish continued another scoring sequence: MLSsoccer.com reported that it extended the team's record run of matches with a first-half goal to 11. This time, one goal was enough to secure the victory.
